World Toilet Day
Friday 19th November 2021 is World Toilet Day. A whole day dedicated to the toilet!
You may be wondering why we need a whole day dedicated to the loo, but… did you know that approximately 3.6 billion people in the world don’t have access to safe sanitation?
World Toilet Day has been an annual United Nations Observance since 2013. It was first established back in 2001 by the World Toilet Organisation.
2021 is all about valuing the toilet, and the fact toilets – and the sanitation systems that support them – are valuable to our health and the environment. Toilets also drive improvements in gender equality, education, economics and the environment.
The UN has pledged to provide toilets for all by 2030. Access to sanitation is recognised by the UN as a human right. Everyone should be entitled to have affordable access to sanitation, throughout the world.
